We are all trying to navigate our way to this new normal. Staying in our homes, only going out for essentials or work, and trying to stay as safe and healthy as possible.
One of the great ways to keep your immune system healthy and boosted is to get some exercise each day. It’s a great way to break up the long days for those stuck at home and a great way to get children involved who need a break from school work. Let’s face it just getting a little workout in can also be a huge stress reliever.
Some of you know that in addition to being a Realtor I am a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer and have been doing that since 1999. I could go on and on about the healthy benefits of just moving, activating your glutes and doing some type of weight bearing activity. However, I will save that for another day.
Today I wanted to share two quick fitness activities you can do at home and involve everyone in your house. All you need is a Deck of Cards for 1 and some plastic Easter Eggs for the second.
For the Deck of Cards workout simply decide what each suit will be for 4 different exercises. Example: Heart= Burpees, Clubs= Push Ups, etc. Then each person takes a turn drawing a card and you all do the number of that specific exercise. Make the Jokers=11, Queens=12 and Kings=13. For the advanced set make the Ace a one minute plank and for those beginners out there keep it to a one minute rest. Or you can decide to make it 21 repetitions of the corresponding exercise.
For the Easter Egg Activity you will need to write a few different exercises on slips of paper. You can decide if you want to put the number of repetitions on the paper or make it simple and just plan for everyone to do 10 each. Take one slip of paper and put it in an egg. Repeat this with the remaining slips of paper. Then you can either hide the Eggs around your yard or put them in a basket or bucket in your house or driveway. Each person draws an egg and everyone will do that exercise together.
The bottom line is to just have FUN! Even better have fun TOGETHER!
If any of you would like a link to some videos I have been doing from my garage for Pivotal Fitness (where I currently teach classes and train) I would be happy to share them with you. Or if you are looking for ways to stay active at home reach out and let me know what equipment you have,if any, and I can give you more ideas!
We are all in this together and we have to share our talents to support each other until this is all over.
Big Love,
JD
